Energy resources
This resource from the Geological Society explores how energy resources such as oil, gas, coal, wood, wind, sunlight and geothermal energy are all natural resources that can be used to produce heat and electricity.
Pupils learn that energy sources can be either renewable or non-renewable. Non-renewable energy sources, such as oil and coal, cannot be easily replaced because they have taken millions of years to form. However, renewable energy resources, like wind or solar power, will not run out or can be easily replaced. Activities include a game where pupils take turns to roll the dice and generate electricity from their energy resource and matching definitions to the correct energy terms.
