Summary

Are you looking for support to maximize the achievement of learners with prior attainment up to grade 5 in GCSE Science? As there are many reasons for lower prior attainment, we will explore a variety of strategies to maximize learning and engage pupils, whilst maintaining high expectations in the subject. We will also identify interesting contexts to use in your teaching and consider how to help students feel that science is 'for them'.

Experienced teachers of science, ECTs (Early Career Teachers) of science, subject leaders.

  • Identifying key resources to aid development of learners up to grade 5 and building your own resource bank
  • Math's in science- strategies to aid learners up to grade 5  to use their mathematics skills across science
  • Behavior for learning- strategies to engage and keep learners on track
  • Key strategies for adaptive teaching
  • How to recognize and build on prior learning

Outcomes

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • use techniques to support learners in their scientific understanding and mathematics content required for GCSE sciencedevelop strategies to embed in schemes of learning to support the progress of students in substantive and disciplinary knowledgelink your students learning to real life contexts.
