Summary

Join us for a dynamic day of professional development tailored for World Around Us coordinators. In the morning, Ulster University’s PGCE students will present innovative ideas on integrating science practicals into popular World Around Us thematic topics and share engaging lesson plans that bring science to life in the classroom. In the afternoon, join fellow coordinators for a collaborative session focused on sharing best practices. 

Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, attendees can expect to: 

- Describe the resources, funding and support available from the Royal Society of Chemistry.- Gain practical strategies and ideas from PGCE student presentations to effectively embed science practicals within well-known World Around Us thematic topics.- Fostering engaging and interactive learning experiences for pupils- Collaborate with fellow coordinators to explore and share effective practices for aligning their World Around Us curriculum with CCEA's progression skills. 

This will enable them to enhance curriculum coherence and support pupil progression in scientific understanding and skills development, participate in discussions and activities throughout the day, expand their professional network and gain valuable insights from colleagues, fostering a supportive community focused on continuous improvement in primary school science education.
