Shape and Space

Instant Maths Ideas are aimed at teachers of Key Stage Three but could also be appropriate for use with other age groups. The complete resource contains all 16 subject topics together with appropriate resource materials. Each topic has also been included as a separate resource for ease of use. Each topic contains a number of questions or activities designed as inspiration for starters, extension questions or probing questions, useful to supplement lesson plans. The ideas are accompanied by teachers' notes. Ideas for students to explore include the use of Heron’s formula for finding the area of a triangle, finding the average speed of Phileas Fogg as he travels around the world in 80 days and calculating the number of people that should, in theory, be able to fit inside a telephone box.
