IndusTRY at home *suitable for home teaching*
These activities and investigations are designed so that children can work at home with their families. The ones aimed at children aged seven and above will need some help from an adult to get started. The ones aimed at younger children will need more adult support and are designed for families to enjoy together. The activities for younger children also have ideas for linked school-based activities, although all activities for this age group would work in either setting.

A leaky line
Children are tasked with helping engineers at a water company to transport clean water from their water cleaning plant to homes. Children must carry out a fair test to find a suitable sealant that joins the pipes together and doesn’t allow any water to leak through. They should observe and record their findings....

Children are tasked with investigating which conditions produce the most mould and which are the quickest, by using bread stored in a variety of conditions. Children are encouraged to make a prediction about the results, and then to observe and record their results.
Which washing product?
Children are asked to investigate home-use washing products to find out which ones achieve the best result on stained fabric, by running a fair test.
