SAMHE (Schools’ Air quality Monitoring for Health and Education) project resources

These resources are designed to support students and their teachers to engage with the SAMHE (Schools’ Air quality Monitoring for Health and Education) project. SAMHE (pronounced Sammy) sent air quality monitors to over 1,300 schools across the UK and with the help of students and teachers, designed a Web App where schools can interact with their air quality data. Researchers on the SAMHE project are using the air quality data collected by the monitors in combination with data entered by users of the Web App to better understand air quality in UK classrooms. SAMHE was funded by EPSRC and the Department for Education.

These resources will help schools who received a monitor to get it connected and understand what the readings mean. Schools with monitors will have access to the SAMHE Web App until at least January 2030, meaning that they can engage with our range of curriculum linked activities and experiments which provide opportunities for students to be scientists.

For schools who don’t have a monitor, the assembly resource will teach students about indoor air quality, and ‘Day in the life…’ is a resource aimed at anyone wanting to understand the diverse ranges of careers involved with research.
