FIRST® LEGO® League Jr.
FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. is an exciting Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) programme for 6-9 year olds. Each year a theme relevant to the world around them is chosen as a focus for the children’s work. The teams research the topic, displaying their ideas on a Show Me poster and they also build a motorised LEGO® model. FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. rapidly develops teamwork, design, programming and communication skills, but the most important thing is that it is great fun and makes the children really enjoy STEM subjects.
IET Education Primary Resources
Two challenge days complete with posters and certificates! The two challenges can be used to enhance the curriculum as children need to apply existing knowledge of electrical circuits, forces, design and construction in an integrated project. The first challenge involves children designing a way of getting lighthouse keepers back to the mainland from a lighthouse based on a small island 200 metres from the nearest land. In the second challenge teams of children work together to design an aeroplane and then construct a transporter to move it to the next stage of development.
Moon Camp Challenge
With Moon Camp, ESA and Airbus Foundation, in partnership with Autodesk, challenge students to take part in the future exploration of space by designing a human shelter on the Moon! The students will have to design a 3D Moon Camp able to sustain the lives of at least two astronauts.
