The Introduction of Species

In this Triple Crossed activity, from the Centre for Science Education and supported by the Astra Zeneca Teaching Trust, students are asked to sequence a number of statements relating to the mutiny on the Bounty and look at the transportation of breadfruit to the West Indies. They are asked to consider the impact that this kind of transportation could have on the environment. Using examples, students consider the implications of the introduction (or reintroduction) of various organisms (including animals) to various countries or regions.

At the end of the tasks, students assess their own work of reviewing and interpreting evidence, sequencing events and forming views as part of a team.

The activity sheet is accompanied by a set of teachers' notes.
