Sustainable futures: innovation challenge 2023

Become an engineer and share your idea for innovations that work towards a sustainable future for our planet and our goal of reaching net zero as a country.
 
All teams who enter will have a chance to:

  • Share their innovation with real engineers,
  • Win individual and team prizes, 
  • Win £1000 to enhance STEM at their school.

​Every member of each team that enters a complete submission will receive a Royal Academy of Engineering certificate. 

 
Themes for this challenge
We want students to think of an innovation in technology or society or an innovative system or product that could help address a specific problem they have identified within that bigger theme.
 
The four themes are: 

  • travel and transport
  • food systems
  • our homes and habits
  • our lifestyles and what we consume.
