Trees stages 1 and 2: a unit for teachers (science 5/13)

Science 5/13 is aimed at helping teaches help children between the ages of five and thirteen years to learn science through first-hand experience using a variety of methods. The project produces books that comprise units dealing with subject areas in which children are likely to conduct investigations.

Trees: Trees play an important part in the life of man, and this is a very good reason for including them in school work. But there is another, equally valid reason for their inclusion in classroom activity. They provide a ready source of material for observation and investigation which is likely to further the development of children's scientific understanding, and it is this aspect of trees that forms the substance of the unit.
