Polygons

This resource contains 21 instant maths ideas designed to explore the properties of polygons. Practical activities include creating polygons by folding newspaper, exploring the number of triangles that can be drawn on a triangular dotted grid and creating, naming and classifying quadrilaterals. Students are asked to explore links between polygons and coordinates, pentagons and pentagrams and tangrams and polygons. Student resource material for use with the tasks require students to name different polygons, classify quadrilaterals, identify properties of quadrilaterals and imagine different polygons by connecting different times on a clock face.
