Nuffield Physics: Tests and Examinations

In Nuffield Physics constructive problems or questions that ask for active thinking largely took the place of pupils' reading in texts or background books. The first chapter in this book about tests and examinations provided guidance on the nature and purposes of the questions in the range of Question Books. The general objects of these questions was to encourage students to think and wonder about things; to lead them to the more difficult concepts by easy stages: and finally, to replace much of the tedium of note-taking and writing up. The second chapter provided examples of test papers used for school-based examinations during the trials of the course. External testing at the end of the course for O-level certification was described in the final chapter. The book contains a wide variety of sample questions in all chapters.
