Identifying factors limiting pupils’ progress in Key Stage 4 – a research project

This report, published in 2004 by the Department for Education, analysed the results of a project undertaken in  In autumn 2003.   LEA Key Stage 3 strategy managers were invited to take part in a small-scale project to investigate the causes of
underperformance of pupils in English, mathematics and science at GCSE.  Altogether 41 volunteer LEAs took part – some focusing on one subject, others looking at two or all three core subjects.
