Running Discussions in a KS2 Class

In this programme from Teachers TV, education consultant Matthew Tosh introduces tips on how to run a good science-related discussion in a Key Stage Two classroom.

As well as seeing clips of discussions during science lessons, the teachers featured also give their comments on facilitating effective discussions. They suggest starting with talk partners, then small groups which have been carefully selected by the class teacher, then in whole class.

Though this clip is based on a science lesson, the key points on how to achieve purposeful discussion are applicable throughout the primary curriculum.
