Technology in the National Curriculum: Getting It Right

This report, published in 1992 by the Engineering Council, gives an analysis of the development of technology in schools, identifying the problems associated with it at the time.

The report considers how technology fits into the National Curriculum, looks at problems concerning perceived parity with other subjects and the problems of assessing standards. The aim of the report was to raise the profile of technology in schools and promote the practical skills that these subjects develop. The report ends with a set of pointers and recommendations aimed at overcoming the problems identified.

This report was written by Professor Alan Smithers and Dr Pamela Robinson.
