The Amazing D30
In this video, from the Institution of Engineering and technology (IET), Richard Palmer tells the story of the development of a new smart material D30. The polymer is based upon a fluid which behaves differently depending upon the speed at which the fluid is asked to move. When asked to move at slow speed the material is flexible but when asked to move at high speed the material locks solid.
The video explains why the material behaves in this manner and explores the processes required to make the product useful and demonstrates the uses to which this product can be used.
