Under the Microscope: the State of Resourcing of Practical Science in Primary Schools

This resource, commissioned by SCORE (Science Community Representing Education) and published in April 2013, reports on the findings of research into the nature of resourcing and funding of practical science within primary schools in England. The aim was to identify and understand types of issues that might be encountered and to suggest actions. The report provides very detailed data and highlights disparities between schools in how science teaching is resourced with fluctuations in budget and mixed levels of expectations. The report also looks at the impact of the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) makes recommendations for SCORE about how to influence policy and provide information and support to schools.
