National Core Plus Challenge Programme

These materials were part of a series of support for the “National Challenge” and were designed to support science departments to audit and address areas of underachievement particularly in years Ten and Eleven.  Many of the strategies and ideas will still be useful for science departments even if the national context  has changed somewhat.    Materials include:

  • Leading improvement and raising standards
  • Planning for progression
  • Improving subject pedagogy and the climate for learning
  • Tracking pupils’ progress and setting curricular targets
  • Intervention and personalisation
  • Securing consistent pupil performance across core subjects
  • Quality standards
