Street scene

The Frederick Bremer School used three days during the summer term ‘off timetable’ week for this project which included a day visit to King’s Cross Station with a STEM Ambassador from Transport for London (TfL). The visit provided students with insight into the issues and ideas regarding the redevelopment of plazas within railway stations. Students then considered how lessons learnt at King’s Cross could be applied to a local context, namely Wood Street Plaza, near their school.

Students developed their ideas for the Plaza and modelled their solution using ‘ArcKit’ (an architectural modelling kit), card and paper.

Students then presented their ideas and models to local community group representatives who evaluated their suggestions for the Plaza. As a result, some items are being taken forward for possible inclusion in the redevelopment of the Plaza.
