Misprints Do Hapen

Two proof-readers are checking separate copies of the same manuscript. They each find a different number of errors. The number of errors found by both is given and the task is to calculate how many errors it is suspected remain undetected by either person.

Getting an answer relies on ideas of independence and expectation. There is an extension task to create further examples that give rise to whole number answers.
