Sexual Reproduction in Humans
These diagnostic questions and response activities (contained in the zip file) support students in being able to:
- Describe how the male and female reproductive structures work collectively as a system to produce and release gametes.
- Explain the importance for fertilisation of the chromosome number in the male and female gametes.
- Describe the menstrual cycle as a cycle in which the lining of the uterus builds up, a mature ovum is released (ovulation), and the lining of the uterus breaks down.
- Identify the location, timing and event that is fertilisation.
- Describe the role of the umbilical cord, placenta and amniotic fluid in fetal development.
The resources include details of common misconceptions and a summary of the research upon which the resources are based.
