Covalent structures

- Recognise that an element symbol in a chemical equation can represent a giant covalent structure.
- Recognise that a chemical formula can represent a giant covalent structure.
- Describe the uses and limitations of a dot and cross diagram of covalent bonding.
- Recognise that both covalent bonds and intermolecular forces are electrostatic.
- Explain the differences in melting point or boiling point of covalent substances.
The resources include details of common misconceptions and a summary of the research upon which the resources are based.
