Changing polar climate

This resource highights the impact of human activity on glaciers and sea ice in the Arctic and Antarctic using four different student activities:

  1. Students explain the reason, using their knowledge of global warming, for 4 changes seen in changes and forecasts for the Polar regions.
  2. Students complete an exercise looking at the impact of increased precipitation on the Arctic and Antarctic.
  3. Students interpret data on the mass of the Greenland ice sheet and how its reduction affects sea levels.
  4. Students have to interpret graphics on the effect of a two degree increase in global temperatures on temperatures and precipitation in various Arctic regions.
