Activity Case Study 3: Kate Woolley

In this STEMNET activity case study, Kate Woolley describes a construction skills day at a language college for girls. The pupils were allocated 'real' roles on which their hands-on tasks were based. Kate also gave a presentation about civil engineering, using famous buildings as examples.

Since becoming a STEM Ambassador, Kate has worked with many schools, and different age groups, including her former school where she has helped with careers fairs, talks and speed networking events.

“These activities have direct, positive impacts on students, and teachers too. If we had ambassadors when I was at school, I’m sure more of my classmates would have become engineers too, or considered it.”
