Enhancement of Literacy Skills in Science
Published by LSIS, this case study looks at a project at Nelson and Colne College. The college applied for funding from the LSIS STEM Programme to devise and deliver an action research project that would meet the needs of college students.
The team began by collecting the GCSE English Language data of current Science AS and Diploma students to see the impact of their literacy levels on their attainment in science. They also collated and compared the GCSE English Language results of the previous year’s students with their post-16 science results.
