In Vitro Fertilisation

Produced by the Citizen Science project, this pack of resources allows students to learn about and debate the issues around in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Containing teacher notes and student activity sheets, the materials will engage students to think about, express and critically evaluate IVF.

Suitable for students aged 14-16, the activities support students to:
* develop their ability to relate their understanding of science to scientific and technological developments in society and the issues these raise
* gain knowledge related to some of the ethical and social issues around IVF treatment
* research, analyse and evaluate information from different sources
* develop skills in presenting, explaining and critically evaluating their own views
* use their imagination to consider other people’s experiences
* develop skills involved in discussion and decision-making where opinions differ
* develop understanding of the use of criteria in decision-making.
