Gareth Griffiths's public profile

An experienced teacher of Computer Science now working at a secondary school in Chester, teaching all year groups from Y7 through to Y13. I have a lot of experience teaching from KS3, to A-Level. I currently teach the Edexcel specification for GCSE Computer Science and the AQA specification for A-Level Computer Science. I have been used across my academy trust as a specialist to provide training and support to computing teachers in other schools in the trust and my links with the NCCE have supported this by allowing me to run courses focused on their needs.

I have been the CS Champion for the Cheshire and Wirral area since the inception of the NCCE and have gained a lot of experience supporting teachers with gaining their certification in GCSE Subject Knowledge (the CS Accelerator Programme). I have also delivered a wide variety of courses for both the local hubs (Cheshire and Wirral, and Merseyside and Warrington) and STEM Learning in York - delivering on all of the Summer Schools so far. I am experienced in delivering face-to-face, remote and hybrid courses and have delivered the majority of available courses for the NCCE including primary and secondary courses.

Prior to returning to teaching I was a Curriculum Consultant working for hi impact Consultancy. I helped to integrate Computing across the curriculum, offering bespoke support and CPD to a wide variety of schools. This took the form of workshops, curriculum mapping, staff training and courses. This support is offered across both primary and secondary schools, both state and independent. I also offer specialised Computer Science training to both primary and secondary schools, to help teachers improve their knowledge of the various aspects of the Computer Science strand of the Computing curriculum.

My background is as a Computer Science teacher, teaching from KS3 - KS5 in an outstanding comprehensive school. Prior to this, I worked for a very large telecommunications company (Telewest Communications which became Virgin Media) as part of their broadband department.
