I started out as a teacher of Science and Physics in 1984 and have taught to GCSE and A-level ever since except one year teaching in Mexico and two years as a lighting research engineer for Thorn Lighting.
I was Head of Science at Camden School for Girls through the nineties, raising the profile and achievements in science at a traditionally arts/humanities school. I got the department involved in WISE and in a number of research projects with Kings College London.
I then entered senior leadership at the newly-opening Charter School in Southwark, went on to be Vice Principal at Lambeth Academy and then was appointed as founding head of City Heights Academy in Lambeth.
I completed my headship career being invited by the local authority to serve two years as consultant headteacher at another Lambeth school which had gone into special measures.
In September 2019 I set up Kaleidoscope Education to get back to my first love of science and physics education. I have worked with schools and trusts across the country to support their delivery of science and I run training for STEM Learning and am a mentor for the Ogden Trust.
