I have a formal primary teaching qualification and experience of working in the Education sector in Museums for companies such as the Museum of Science and Industry, Cheshire West Museums and the National Trust. Currently I work as a part time Teacher at Monks Coppenhall Academy, where I lead Science, at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, at Gladstone Pottery Museum and at Catalyst Science and Discovery Centre. Within the Potteries Museum I am now leading on the Operation Spitifre project which aims to inspire Key Stage Two and Key Stage Three pupils to be the engineers of the future. This means I can offer a diverse skill set ranging from formal Science teaching to Science communication activities with the public and present to a wide range of age groups. My teaching philosophy is that children learn best through memorable practical experiences which allow them to use all their senses. E.g. In Science for our Materials topic we learnt all about Charles Macintosh who invented the raincoat and then tested materials to make a raincoat before exploring their properties under a microscope.
