World of Science (New SATIS 14-16)

The World of Science was based on a selection of topics from ASE’s SATIS project. The publications contained the best of the thinking of the first project. Units that had stood the test of time were included but they were updated, shortened and amended in the light of experience. Many new units were devised for the project to match the content of revised GCSE specifications. All the units included activities for students such as comprehension and discussion questions, data analysis, surveys, practical investigations, problem solving, decision making and role play. A particular feature of the resources was the set of units for teaching about safety, not just in laboratories, but also in everyday life and workplaces.

There were two publications:

  • A Student Book - with each unit set out on one or more double-page spreads
  • A Teacher's Resource Book - providing guidance for each unit together with photocopiable activity sheets.
