46 nutritional aspects of cardiovascular disease: report of the Cardiovascular Review Group Committee on medical aspects of food policy

Recommendations in this report are given in two forms: as quantitative targets for intake of particular nutrients, and as patterns of food intake. They include targets for reducing saturated fatty acid intake to no more than 10 per cent of total dietary energy, and for reducing total fat intake to 35 per cent. Consumption of vegetables, fruit and bread should increase by at least 50 per cent for the population as a whole, and people should eat at least two portions of fish, of which one should be oily, weekly.
