Instant Maths Ideas are aimed at teachers of Key Stage Three but could also be appropriate for use with other age groups. The complete resource contains all eight subject topics together with appropriate resource materials. Each topic has also been included as a separate resource for ease of use. Each topic contains a number of questions or activities designed as inspiration for starters, extension questions or probing questions, useful to supplement lesson plans. Each idea is accompanied by teacher notes. Ideas for students to explore include explore the number of possible combinations of dots when using Braille, working out probabilities associated with the use Buffon’s Needle to calculate an approximation for pi and using an algorithm to find which day of the week famous events took place.
