Britain’s Fuels

This resource was one of two readers produced for students by the Nuffield Secondary Science project. It was published in 1972 so it is now very out of date. This is highlighted by the black-and-white illustrations in the book and the absence of any mention of renewable resources in the list of contents. The book ends with this extraordinarily optimistic sentence: ‘There could even come a time when electricity from nuclear power is so cheap that we won’t able to afford to use anything else’.

Contents
*The importance of fuels
*Fossil fuels
*Where we get our fuels from
*Natural gas
*A replacement for fossil fuels: nuclear energy
