Nuffield Secondary Science: Theme 6 - Movement

This Nuffield Secondary Science theme is designed to develop an understanding of the extent to which a few physical principles underlie the wide range of phenomena encompassed by the idea of movement in the modern world.

Areas for investigation
The information in the theme book provides detailed practical advice and guidance related to a wide range of investigations. In this theme the broad areas include:
*principles of forces, acceleration, momentum and energy in the context of land transport
*gravity and circular motion in the contexts of air transport and space travel
*balance, rotation, oscillation and the flight of projectiles in the context of sport
*the flight of birds and planes
*road accidents and design of cars to limit harm.
