Planck Surveyor: Echoes of the Early Universe

From the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), this poster describes the Planck mission that is enabling scientists to map ripples in the electromagnetic echo of the Big Bang, across the entire sky, to build up a picture of the early Universe in unprecedented detail. The resource looks at: * The afterglow of the Big Bang * The cosmic microwave background * How Planck's microwave 'eyes' view constellations and galaxies in a new way. The resource includes an image of the whole sky flattened into an oval, with colours highlighting the different types of material that the Planck mission detects. STFC is a part of the Research Councils UK (RCUK) partnership of research councils.
