STEM Learning Through Space

Produced by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), this case study looks at the themes of enrichment and innovation in STEM. It describes how Leeds City College's STAR Centre enables learners of all ages to engage with STEM subjects through the context of space.

The centre provides a unique learning environment which includes a Mission Control, Mars landscape and science dome which can be used as a planetarium.

The centre also has links with space agencies worldwide. These include Space City Korolov in Moscow, the NASA space camps and the European space camp.

The facility gives students in the Leeds area access to inspiring and engaging STEM-based activities which in turn will help to encourage encourage more of them to progress through STEM to post-16 and beyond.
