Data Handling

From the series Great Lesson Ideas, this Teachers TV video shows a variety of activities being used to teach data handling in Key Stage Two. A Year Three class at Cuffley School, Hertfordshire, uses data about their favourite school meals to create a human bar graph. At Wroxham School in Hertfordshire Year Four students have fun with Olympic Maths. They measure and record the results from the long jump, high jump and target practice. Then they use Venn diagrams and graphs to analyse the data and find their Olympic Maths Champions. Year Three students use a ‘Tardis’ in their classroom to estimate when 30 seconds have elapsed. At the end of the lesson, they use the data to produce a graph on the interactive whiteboard.
