Assessing Pupils Progress Assessment Packages: Teachers' Pack

As part of the Assessing Pupils' Progress (APP) strategy, these packages from the National Strategies were designed to provide assessment activities to use as classroom lessons. Each lesson has indicated levels, key indicators for the topic area and, for Using and applying mathematics, resources and a lesson plan with indicative timings. Each activity within the plan is described in detail and has examples of questions that could be used with students during the activities.

There are four topic areas for each year, they are, with the lesson names:
Year 7 Number: Shape expectations and Polygon perimeters
Year 7 Number/Algebra : Rules R Us and What’s my picture
Year 7 Shape, space and measures: Making shapes and What’s the area?
Year 7 Handling data: Controversial and Feeling confident.

Year 8 Number: 1-2-5-10 and percentages
Year 8 Algebra: Mind readers and What’s the trick?
Year 8 Shape, space and measures: How do you know (area) and How do you know (angles)
Year 8 Number and Handling data: Powerful stuff and The first hundred.

Year 9 Number: Thinking proportionately and secret sequences
Year 9 Algebra: Twelve sum and three lines
Year 9 Shape, space and measures: Wrap around and Prismatic
Year 9 Handling data: Runners up! and Runners up again!
