Fraction Wall

This Teachers TV from the series Great Lesson Ideas shows a Key Stage Two mathematics lesson designed to reinforce the concept that fractions are different parts of a whole. After starting the lesson with a recap of the language of fractions, Year Five teacher Sophie Crump, at Burnham-on-Crouch Primary School, sets her class the task of making their own fraction wall. They use strips of A3 paper, which the students cut up into different fractions. Using different colours for each fraction the students can then compare them to show equivalence. Learning ssupport assistants work with students who need extra support and with more able students to extend their learning.
