Skill 2.2 Engaging With a Presentation

These activities, produced by Gatsby Science Enhancement Programme, help students to gain more from presentations. This activity is the first stage in the process of developing the skills of listening and observing.

An expert is invited to give a talk to the students on a subject they have already studied in class. Students are required to prepare for the talk by thinking about the subject of the presentation before it takes place. They devise questions about the topics to which they believe the presenter will make reference.

Afterwards a discussion is conducted as to whether the students’ expectations were indeed realised, in terms of the content and information covered.
