Coulsdon High School Year 9 Science

Part of the Uncut Classroom series from teachers TV, this video shows an uninterrupted science lesson for Year Nine students. As part of their work on genes, students consider whether cloning should be allowed and then present the ethical and moral issues. The lesson is recorded in full, creating a resource which is usually technically difficult for schools to capture themselves.

The class teacher introduces the video, explains the objectives for the lesson and sets it in context. The screen is split between views from two cameras, one following the teacher and the other showing the whole room.

After the lesson, the teacher gives an immediate reaction to how things went, the extent to which the initial objectives were met, and where they will go next with the topic.
