Science: Five Main Strategies

This video, from Teachers TV, shows how Hodgson School improved its science provision. In 2000, only 38% of students at achieved a grade A-C at GCSE science. By 2007 that figure had risen to an impressive 98% per cent.

Science teacher Deborah Bradley charts the fall and rise of life on the front line in the science department while Deputy Head Toni Roethling takes us through Hodgson's five main improvement strategies.

The strategies focus on getting the courses right, changing pedagogy, using data to track students, raising expectations, and teacher accountability.
