APP for Primary Science - Introducing Deborah Herridge

In this Teachers TV programme trainer Deborah Herridge reveals her passion for practical science to Key Stage One and Key Stage Two teachers. Starting with a testable question she challenges the teachers to find out which hands grab the most sweets, an exciting exercise which encourages children to carry out a fair test whilst engaging in a meaningful practical task. Deborah worries that with the ending of the Key Stage Two SAT for science, the subject may be sidelined in some schools. She argues that science is a vehicle for the practical application of mathematics skills and for improving speaking and listening in small groups. She talks about using APP (Assessing Pupil's Progress) materials to assess practical science at primary level.
