Dancing in Science: Lesson Review

In this programme from Teachers TV, Victoria Palmer, a teacher at Bishops Castle Primary School in Shropshire, has recently taught a lesson about the human body to her mixed class of Year One, Year Two and Year Three.

With the help of dancer Rachel Freeman, Victoria was able to introduce different body parts and encourage the children to observe what happens to their bodies both before and after exercise.

In this programme, Victoria meets up with advisor Chris Robinson, the primary science advisor for Shropshire County Council, and looks back at how the lesson went. The pair discuss how successful the class has been, focusing on the issues of planning, team teaching, scientific enquiry, differentiation and cross curricular links. They also look at what could be included to enhance children’s learning in future teaching sessions.
