Screening Everyone

This resource explores the potential benefits and risks of a national screening programme for cystic fibrosis (CF) carriers. Students are presented with the proposal that all 14 year olds should be encouraged to have a screening test to identify whether they are a carrier for cystic fibrosis. They then think about this ethical dilemma from different perspectives and consider their own point of view. The film Ryan’s Story can be used to support this activity.

This resource was produced by Genetic Disorders UK, which provides schools with a host of free resources for increasing awareness and understanding of genetic disorders.
