Selenia: Chase Through Wing City

Learn about the properties of materials and changing state in this colourful comic aimed at students in Key Stage Two. Written to promote enquiry skills, it contains a linked investigation which focuses on planning and recording when finding out how to make the best glue.

In this episode Selenia's head teacher discovers a powerful book is missing and comes looking for it. Follow Selenia as she races away from her teacher, slowing her down by changing the properties of various materials on her way. She wants to make a glue to slow her down but needs help in finding the best glue.

Included are a detailed set of teachers' notes which provide a link from the comic to the investigation and a plan for running the activity. They also contain an explanation of the composition of glue and its adhesive quality, curriculum links, extension opportunities, equipment list and a planning sheet.

The comic, produced by the University of the West of England is part of a collection of science comics which aim to engage children with science and reading.
