Learning About Life for Ages 7 to 11 Years

This resource centres around five posters designed to promote discussion, which link to the topic areas of micro-organisms, keeping healthy, plants, life-cycles, how we see things and PSHE. The notes provide information for teachers including key teaching points and questions. They focus on the variety of micro-organisms, their many uses and sometimes harmful effects, immunisation and the development and production of medicine. It also looks at medical conditions and their impact physically and emotionally and the treatments available and plant life-cycles and crop production. Included in the guidance are practical activities, worksheets and further research ideas. This resource published in 1996 is the result of collaboration between The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the Medical Research Council (MRC) in close consultation with primary school teachers.
