Data Tables, Tally Charts and Graphs

This series of interactive excel sheets aimed at Year Three students explores collecting data, entering data into tables and drawing graphs. New data sets can be generated each time by the click of a button.

The first sheet allows a tally to be drawn to show the class’ favourite colour. Click on the colour to increase the tally, the total for each column and a bar chart of the information can also be shown.

The second sheet helps investigate students’ favourite drinks. The data collected from the class is then represented by both a pictograms and a bar chart.

In the third sheet the information on how students get to school is displayed in two pictograms; in the first each symbol represents only one pupil, in the second chart two students are represented by each symbol.

In the final sheet information can be collected from students or random data can be generated to explore class shoe sizes. Data is shown in a tally chart and pictogram.
