Factorising

This resource contains two interactive excel programs which enable students to investigate cubic functions and the relationship between the factorised form and the graph.

Factorising: Quadratics a=1
This excel file gives practice at factorising quadratic expressions where the coefficient of x2 is 1. The student can choose to have the constant terms in the factors as both positive, both negative or a mixture. The sheets generate sets of quadratic functions and the student can click to reveal the correct factorisation. This workbook has a further eight sheets on factorising quadratics and related topics which can be duplicated for class use.

Factorising: Quadratics a=2 and 3 Diff. of two squares
This interactive excel file deals with factorisation of quadratics including by Completing the square and also when the coefficient of x2 is either 2 or 3. This file also has printable worksheets providing further practice at factorisation and sheets for solving quadratic equations which may be used for consolidation or extension work.

Note
This program was designed to be viewed on a screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768. Users may have to adjust the resolution of their screen for the pages to display as was originally intended. The program uses macros which need to be enabled on a machine
