Multiplication

This resource contains two interactive excel files dealing with aspects of multiplication of integers and decimals.

Long Multiplication
The first three interactive sheets show the steps involved in carrying out long multiplication. Different levels of difficulty can be chosen and entries in each part of the calculation (including the carried digits) can be revealed.

The next sheet shows three columns of multiplication questions which allow for differentiation within the classroom. The final two interactive sheets show a product and sets of questions involving those digits and multiplication or division of related decimals. There are also a further 12 sheets of questions which may be suitable for classroom use.

Multiplication by splitting tens and units
The first interactive sheet deals with partitioning numbers and the use of the grid method of multiplication. The next two sheets give further practice including multiplying and dividing by 10 to simplify the product.

The grid method is then used to find the product of two two-digit numbers where the second is less than 10. The final two interactive sheets show how to use a Russian method of multiplication based upon Napier's Bones. There are also a further eight sheets of questions which may be suitable for classroom use.
